About Chrisitian Aid and Christion Aid Week
For more than 60 years, Christian Aid has made a practical difference to millions of lives around the world. Working with people of every faith and none, we are fighting for a world free of poverty and injustice.
We provide disaster relief, help build long-term development, speak up for the oppressed and campaign for change among the powerful.
Where our money comes from
In 2006/07 our income was £93.3 million. Three quarters (£70.2 million) came directly from the public in Britain and Ireland. We also received £20 million (22%) from various governments, including our own. However, in order to safeguard our independence we never accept more 30% from official bodies.
Our most important fundraising tool is Christian Aid Week. Every year, our extraordinary army of volunteers, numbering 300,000 in 2007, pound the streets collecting door to door and holding a multitude of events. Do your bit this year!
Where it goes
Thanks to your generosity, we were able to spend £63m (€94m) directly on work with those in need during 2006-7.

We operate mostly through 716 local organisations which know how to best to tackle the poverty they see every day, respond during emergencies and fight against unjust policies.
In 2006/07 we spent £36 million on funding projects which help secure long-term development, so people can build a prosperous, fruitful future for themselves.
£27.8 million went on providing urgent relief following disasters. A growing proportion of this money goes to helping vulnerable communities prepare better for future emergencies.
From unfair trade rules to climate change, so much of the poverty we see is made worse by the policies of the rich world. We spent £12.1 million on campaigning for change from our own government and other governments across the world.
We also invested £14 million in fundraising helping us boost our income from regular donations by 14.6%.
